May 3, 2018

A Note from Susan

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Our 2018-2019 school calendar was recently approved by the Archdiocese so I can give you some dates that might impact family, travel, and vacation plans.

I will begin to build our online calendar next week, so you will have these dates available electronically.

Another important date to schedule is our annual Auction—November 3! The new auction theme is being announced today, so keep reading the Footnotes. I need to go up to my attic and dig out some disco dresses and ask Alexa to play the BeeGees.

Have a great weekend.

Susan

Havana Nights Passes the $300,000 Mark!

Did you know that the auction keeps making money even after it is over? All those spots you keep buying at easel item events, such as the Father Daughter Disco Dance, continue to add to the auction's bottom line.

This past weekend the 2017 Havana Nights Auction officially passed the $300,000 mark in gross revenue. Many thanks to the Boots family for buying two last minute tickets to the Father Daughter Disco Dance and putting us over the top.

As a small token of our thanks for supporting the auction (and for unwittingly buying their tickets at just the right moment), the Boots family has won $60 in Regal Theater gift cards. Hopefully, they can all agree which summer blockbuster they want to see this summer!

Upcoming Easel Item Events

Keep the fun rolling! Don't miss out on this fun-filled easel item event! Surprise your parents with a portrait. You know they'll love it!

Todd Whalen, photographer and Mad Dad, will be on hand creating portraits of grandparents and their grandkids following the school mass. St. Stephen's Lunch Programlunches

Making a difference, one lunch at a time!

Eighth Grade Rocks! This class consistently brings in strong numbers every time it is their week to make lunches, and they did not disappoint this week either - 208 lunches, 60 extra sandwiches and 4 boxes of mac and cheese! Thank you for bringing your A-Game to Madeleine’s service program….and making a true difference one sandwich at a time. Good luck to you all!

church Campaign Surpasses $1 Million Raised

The Madeleine Old Church Project Capital Campaign is officially underway after last weekend’s kickoff celebration. Early commitments from 88 parish and school families and friends exceed $1,000,000 in gifts and pledges toward our $3.8 million base goal.

Campaign packets have been sent to many parish and school families and the rest will be mailed next week. The packets include a case statement booklet along with a request letter from Fr. Mike. The case statement provides an in depth look at the need, the projects, and the cost.

Please accept telephone calls from our team of dedicated volunteers who are reaching out to families to discuss the campaign, answer questions and deliver your pledge card needed to make your sacrificial commitment official. Due to our limited numbers of volunteers, we may not be able to personally contact every family – but we do hope that all families will choose to participate in this important campaign.

No gift is too large or too small. All gifts and pledges will count toward the generous $1,000,000 challenge from parishioner Howard Hedinger.

Please make your commitment as soon as possible. The faster we reach our goals, the faster we can begin the main construction.

Please visit www.OldChurchProject.com/news to read this complete story.

Audio/Video Ministry needs your help!

screenWe are putting together a team of ministers to assist in running the video screens and sound system during our weekend liturgies. This is a very important ministry, as both sound and screens help to enhance our worship experience.

Both ministries make use of technology, so comfort with an iPad for the sound levels and presentation software on a laptop computer for the video screens are very helpful. (Similar to Powerpoint—you run the presentations that have been built for each Mass, and will not need to edit or create them.)

Interested? Please contact Rich Hammons, rhammons@themadeleine.edu.

Congratulations for making it all the way to the end of Friday Footnotes!
