A Note from Susan

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Welcome back and happy New Year. I hope your Christmas vacation was filled with family time and perhaps some relaxation???? I enjoyed being with 2 of my grandchildren, who filled the house with toy trucks and every article associated with “Frozen” known to mankind.

We are getting ready for the new school year which begins in September. Our Open House for prospective families will be February 2nd and February 3rd, with an information night for prospective parents on Monday and school tours on Tuesday. If you know of anyone who might be interested in joining our school community, please have them come or give me a call for information. I maintain that the best marketing we can do is “word of mouth.” More details about the Open House days will be coming.

In today’s folder is the annual re-registration form for 2015-2016. If your child will be returning to The Madeleine next year, you must fill out the form and return it to the office. We need an accurate count of how many open spots we might have in order to register new students. Please take a minute and fill out the form if you know of your plans for next year. It will make Angela’s job so much easier if she can collect the forms in the next two weeks. If you have a child who will be 5 before September 1st and wish to enroll him/her in Kindergarten, please include that child on the re-registration form, too.

We need volunteers for both days of our Open House for greeters, tour guides, hospitality, etc. If you would like to help, give us a call.

                                                          Sincerely,
                                                          Susan

All of the money that we raise will go to the new water fountain that was just installed on our first floor. So please, show your support for the amazing Oregon Ducks!

Sincerely,

Important Information Regarding Tax Identity Fraud

The IRS informed the Archdiocese of Portland that, in an effort to assist individuals potentially affected by tax fraud, it is attempting to issue an Identity Protection PIN (IP PIN) number to every individual who had a criminal background check processed through the former background check vendor for the Archdiocese of Portland in Oregon and the Archdiocese of Seattle, regardless of when, or for which parish, school or other organization.

The IP PIN number has been or will be sent by the IRS via US Mail by early January 2015.  The IP-PIN must be included on your 2014 tax return. The IRS will not process returns that do not include this IP PIN number in an effort to protect people from having a fraudulent return filed in their name for the 2014 tax year.

Thursday, January 22 @ 7pm in Parish Hall

Who: All 2014 Auction Sub Chairs & Current 3rd Grade Families

It’s takes a village to plan and execute a successful auction. Please join us in thanking our 2014 auction sub-chairs and help the 3rd Grade Class select the 2015 Auction Chairs.

“We want to thank all of the brave parents who stepped into leadership roles in 2014 and let them know how much we appreciate their efforts. Also, it is time to find out who wants to lead the 2015 Auction," says Mrs. Steele.

Although the next auction is 10 months away, there are some key decisions the new team needs to make in the near future. We will have dinner and drinks for all our attendees.

St. Michael's Lunches

Making a difference, one lunch at a time

The fourth grade kicked off the new year with a whooping 268 well packed, well labeled lunches!

Thank you so much for setting the bar high and helping us feed our friends at St. Michael’s.  The mornings are cool and often wet and a nutritious lunch and bowl of soup is often the only meal consumed that day.  This week, Irvan, the head volunteer, was making a batch of split pea and ham soup, delicious!

Family Faith Sharing

January 11 ~ Baptism of the Lord~ Mark 1:7-11

As part of the Action Plan resulting from the results of this year's Catholic Identity survey results, a weekly faith sharing article is now be included each week in Friday Footnotes.

Today’s reading tells about the baptism of Jesus in the Jordan River. By baptizing Jesus, John lets everyone know that the messiah is not coming, he is already here. When Jesus came up from the water he heard God’s voice say, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.”

Describe a time when have you done something that revealed Christ’s presence. Describe a time or situation when you have known that God is pleased with you.

We encourage parents to reflect on these questions at home with their children and family.
