Editor's Note:

We hope the new Friday Footnotes format will make it easier for you to keep track of school events, volunteer opportunities, items to send to school with your child, forms that must be filled out, etc. The main section below contains short articles about school events, volunteer opportunities, and also features such as the Counselor's Column. The right-hand column contains three sections: 1) a checklist of things to remember for the current week; 2) a look ahead to important upcoming items that should go on your calendar; and 3) links to forms and informational flyers.

If you have information to contribute to the Friday Footnotes, please email the copy exactly as you would like it to appear to: fridayfootnotes@themadeleine.edu. Deadline is Wednesday evenings, or Tuesday evening if there is no school on Friday.

Eighth Graders Deliver 264 St. Michael's Lunches

To start off the new year with a bang, St. Michael's Lunch coordinator, Sarah Chartz, asked each 8th grader to bring in 10 lunches for our first delivery to St. Michael’s. The kids delivered — as a group, they made 264 lunches!

The volunteer coordinator at St. Michael’s church told Sarah that the public transportation fare increase in downtown Portland is forcing those who can’t afford the fare to spend long hours each day walking from one part of town to the other, often too exhausted to find their way to St. Michael’s for lunch. So now, more than ever, foot powder, prescription bottles and socks will be appreciated additions to sack lunches.
