Welcome to the Third Grade Classroom at The Madeleine School! My name is Shannon McNassar-Myers. I feel blessed to be part of the Madeleine School Faculty. I have been teaching in Catholic Schools for over twenty years and truly enjoy teaching children in such a faith-filled environment where Christ is at the center of all we do. Over the years, I have taught a variety of grade levels and hundreds of students which has kept my work very interesting and fresh.
Third grade is a year filled with spiritual and academic growth. It is the beginning of so many new experiences such as learning to write in cursive, mastering multiplication and division facts, focusing on reading to learn in addition to learning to read, and taking standardized tests, just to name a few.
Developing organizational skills and taking personal responsibility are very important goals to work toward in third grade. I teach, model and encourage these important skills for our students. I also provide numerous opportunities for the children to learn, practice and apply these skills so that they may successfully achieve these goals. Each student is responsible for completing his or her assignments, turning in homework, following school and classroom rules and being a good Christian example. These are invaluable life skills that will help our children to be successful throughout third grade and beyond.
