An educator since 2004

Education: Master's Degree, University of Portland

Library & Computer Lab

Hi! My name is Kate Chambers and I am the Media Specialist here at The Madeleine. I was born and raised in Philadelphia and moved to Portland in 2004 to attend graduate school at The University of Portland. There I met my husband, Mike, and somehow never got around to moving back to Philadelphia. Mike and I have three children: Jack, Olivia, and Maggie. I have a Master’s Degree in the Art of Teaching and an undergraduate degree in Human Resources Management. I love to read, do barre3, take pictures, and visit the beach with my family.

My job at The Madeleine has many different facets. I meet with all grade levels each week in the computer lab and in the library. The focus of our technology class is positive digital citizenship. In library class, we celebrate our love of reading through author studies, library skill lessons, and student self-publishing. I work with teachers to integrate technology into the classroom curriculum using iPads and Chromebooks. I also lead our Battle of the Books Team and the Middle School Book Club.

One of the best things about my job is the built-in balance between technology and books. This allows me to model the need to step away from technology at times and be present to others, and even pick up a book and dive in.
