Take a few quiet moments and think about how your family makes Sunday special and different from the rest of the week.\u00a0 Praying as a community at Mass and doing fun things as a family are ways of making it special.\u00a0 Talk about how your family celebrates the Sabbath.\u00a0 Are there any new ways you could celebrate it?\u00a0 (When I was a child, after we attended Mass,\u00a0 my father would cook breakfast for us on Sundays.\u00a0 We had a delicious and leisurely Sunday breakfast together. We also did not do any work. All our chores were completed on Saturdays.)\u00a0 Are there any new ways you can make Sunday special?\u00a0 Is there anything you want to change about your Sundays?<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>Journaling Activity:<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On another page in your journal, copy the Bible verse:\u00a0 &#8220;God blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.&#8221;\u00a0 Draw pictures and\/or write about the ways Sunday is special for you.\u00a0 Add at least one new way you could make Sunday a special day.\u00a0 Here is a song you can\u00a0 sing and dance on Sunday.\u00a0 (or any day)<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>A song:<\/h3>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/OXKOMmG_ubI\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h2>Scriptural\u00a0 Focus:\u00a0 Part Two<\/h2>\n<h4><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sabbath years:\u00a0 (also called Jubilee Years)<\/span><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Reader:<\/strong> G<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">od\u00a0 also said there should be a Sabbath year.\u00a0 Guess how often&#8230;every 7 years.\u00a0 In Sabbath years, God told farmers to let the land rest by not planting crops on\u00a0 it.\u00a0 That let the land recover and heal.\u00a0 So God even wants to give creation a rest.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">God also said that during the Sabbath year, people who borrowed money would not have to pay it back and if they had slaves they were to free them. \u00a0 Does that sound fair?\u00a0 Probably not. Why would God say that?\u00a0 Well, poor people would get poorer and poorer while others would get richer and richer.
