Need 60 volunteers<\/li>\n<li><strong>Monday August 4 and Tuesday August 5<\/strong>\u2014Move fixtures from commons to storage\u00a0\u00a0 Need 10 volunteers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Haitian Project Garage Sale is held at The Madeleine Parish Hall and grounds, 3123 NE 24th Ave, Portland, OR<\/p>\n<h3>About The Haitian Project<\/h3>\n<p>The Haitian Project is a nonprofit organization that supports and oversees one of the very best secondary education programs in Haiti\u2014Louverture Cleary School, a Catholic secondary boarding school outside of Port-au-Prince, Haiti, providing a rigorous, tuition-free education to academically-talented and motivated young men and women from Haitian families who cannot afford the cost of their children\u2019s education.<\/p>\n<p>With an almost four-decade track record of successfully using education to improve the lives of children from some of the most economically-disadvantaged families in the Western Hemisphere, The Haitian Project believes that education is Haiti\u2019s best investment:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>LCS students have a historical pass rate on Haiti\u2019s national exam of 100 PERCENT\u2014double the national rate\u2014in a country where fewer than five percent of young people graduate high school;<\/li>\n<li>Thanks to The Haitian Project\u2019s robust university scholarship and career advancement program, LCS graduates go on to attend university to become doctors, accountants, engineers, teachers, and business owners\u2014earning an average of 10x the per-capita income just several years into their professional careers;<\/li>\n<li>And in a country where fewer than 30 percent of college graduates <em>stay <\/em>in the country, historically nearly <strong>90 percent of Louverture Cleary alumni are in university or in professional careers IN HAITI.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To support this vital mission, the Madeleine Parish comes together every summer with time, talent and merchandise to host The Haitian Project Garage Sale, which features an amazing variety of gently used goods, from books to furniture to electronics.
