6th Grade Fundraiser for Outdoor Schoollogo

Buy a t-shirt, get free dress!

As some of you know, this year PPS did not cover the cost of the sixth grade Outdoor School trip due to changes in state law. As a result, the 6th grade class created a t-shirt fundraiser with all the net proceeds going toward paying the balance due.

The illustration on the front of the t-shirt was picked from among all of the great illustrations specifically created by the members of the 6th grade class for this project. In addition, this project was created in a way which will allow it to take place in future years to support Outdoor School.

If you are interested in buying a t-shirt, please go to www.themadeleine.edu/t-shirts. You will have the option to have the proceeds of your purchase go to the payment of the overall balance due for the entire class or to the balance due for a particular student.

All orders must be submitted by April 30th.

T-shirts will be delivered in early May. Stay tuned for an announcement of a date when students can wear the t-shirt for free dress.

If we raise $50,000, we get $50,000!

Whether you choose to support the Area of Greatest Need, Tuition Assistance or the Endowment, your donation to the 2019 Annual Fund Campaign helps the families around you at Madeleine who struggle to pay tuition. This year alone, students at The Madeleine School have received almost $65,000 in financial aid.

Give what you can and know you have answered the call to help those in need. We've raised more than $35,000, but need $15,000 more to get the full $50,000 match from the Joseph E. Weston Public Foundation! Make a difference in the lives of those around you by making a Madeleine School education possible!

Art Show - New Format this Year

May 23rd, 6:00 pm, Parish Hall

One of my goals for your children in art this year was that they begin to think of themselves as constantly developing artists. Art brings so much richness to our lives, but in order to appreciate it, we need to free ourselves from thinking of ourselves as good or not good at art--- both ways of thinking leave little room for growth or change. A major goal for art class is that every student becomes comfortable evaluating his or her own work and making observations for strength and improvement.

With that in mind, I am changing the format of the art show this year, so that STUDENTS are choosing the pieces that they want to display as well as creating an artist statement highlighting their goals for art-making this year and beyond. I think that this will lead to greater ownership and interest regarding the show; each student might pick a different combination of pieces to show!

Volunteer Help Needed

To that end, I am looking for art show volunteers during class time to help younger students choose their favorite three pieces and prepare it properly. I also need hands to set up the event and take down work after the event and file it away.

You can find the sign up for the ART SHOW with times that I need help here: www.themadeleine.edu/hours

Thank you so much for your kindness, your support, and your delightful children!

Mrs. Parmeter

P.S. Please remember that for the classroom volunteers, you need to have completed your Called to Protect training.

Date | networking dummiesGrandparents and Honored Guests Day

Online RSVP is Open, Volunteer Help Needed

Mark your calendars for Thursday, May 23rd from 12:45 to 3:00 for this annual event.

We kindly request attendance by grandparents or a student's honored guest, which may include someone close to them such as an aunt, favorite neighbor or former nanny, etc. Parents may volunteer to help with the event or may attend Mass with their child if they would like to be part of this day as well.

If your child does not have someone in this role to attend this event, not to worry. Your child's teacher will make sure all are included in the activities that day.

PLEASE NOTE: the fifth and sixth grade class will not be at school for the event due to the Oaks Park Safety Patrol Field trip. This date was beyond our control. These students may be back in time for mass if grandparents are attending with siblings in other grades.

Register Your Guests

Thank you very much for the RSVP as it greatly helps with the planning. If you have two sets of grandparents attending, please fill out a separate form for different households. Please RSVP by May 15, 2019. Thank you! RSVP this year through this link.

ClipartVolunteer

We are asking for help in two hour shifts. Feel free to sign up for more than one shift. Requests are listed on the school volunteer site. All volunteering can count towards this year's hours. Thank you!
