January 13, 2017

A Note from Susan

Dear Parents and Guardians,

I don't know about you, but I am beginning to run out of projects around the house.

Is it too early to get out the Valentine's Day decorations?

In 25 years of being a principal I have never had so many snow days in one year. We are awaiting direction from our Archdiocese about the situation, but we have calendared two make up days so far. We will have school on January 17th and Feb. 21st, both accreditation work days that we are giving up. Holidays have, in the past, always been non-negotiable, but we will see if that changes this year.

So......enjoy what God and Mother Nature have given us. And keep your faucets dripping so your pipes don't freeze. Could be another potential project.

                                                              Sincerely,

                                                              Susan

St. Stephen's Lunch Program - All Grades Contribute on January 17!lunches

Making a difference, one lunch at a time!

Many thanks to the 4th graders who brought in 170 lunches during our one day of school this past week. In this extreme weather, every bit of food is appreciated as people burn many extra calories trying to stay warm.

Since this Tuesday, January 17 is a snow make-up day, ALL GRADES are invited to bring in lunches for St. Stephens. If everyone brings in five lunches, we could provide those living in the elements with over 1,000 lunches!

A TREMENDOUS THANK YOU TO
THE MADELEINE COMMUNITY

I am at a loss for words to express my overwhelming gratitude to all of you that supported my Children of Incarcerated Parents through The Madeleine Giving Tree. Through your generosity 23 students were given a Christmas to remember. My students live in extreme poverty and are faced with food and housing insecurity, trauma, abuse, neglect and more. The gifts represent so much more than new sneakers, Barbies or video games. They represent the love and generosity of people that care about them and believe in their worth as children of God and don’t even know them. My heartfelt thanks to The Madeleine Community for truly going above and beyond in serving my students.
Blessings,
Marianne Kersten,
Children of Incarcerated Parents
