My name is Tina Hanselman, and I am the 8th grade homeroom teacher. I grew up in Portland and was raised Catholic, but attended public school. I went to Lewis Elementry School, Hosford Middle School, and Cleveland High School. I graduated from the University of Oregon with a Bachelor's degree in journalism and completed my teaching preparation studies at Portland State University and then Concordia University. I taught middle and high school for six years before I became a stay at home mom.
My husband Jack, daughters Gabby and Gia, and I have been Madeleine parishioners for the past 10 years, and I worked for the parish as the Director of Faith Formation for the past three years. To keep my teaching license current, I regularly substitute taught in the Beaverton School District, Portland Public School District as well as the Madeleine. I am thrilled to be teaching at the Madeleine.
The 8th graders shine as leaders in our school as they prepare for high school. Eighth grade includes many exciting opportunities and challenges such as writing a research paper, participating in the science fair, and reflecting upon community service. Our middle school team is committed to challenging our eighth graders academically as we support each student’s moral, social, physical and spiritual growth.
