Dear Madeleine Community,

Regarding the email we sent out this morning about last week's security threat...

Portland Police called at 1:00 pm today. They wanted us to tell you they are being inundated with calls asking questions they cannot answer due to the fact that this is an ongoing investigation involving a minor. They have requested us to stop calling on this matter.

When and if any further information can be released, please be assured we will do so.

Portland Police Bureau has been extremely supportive and responsive in this matter, so please honor their request.

Thank you.

Dear Madeleine Community,

A Portland Police officer visited our school at 9:00 am this morning to inform us that an individual has made a statement to Portland Police, and has confessed to writing the threatening message in the snow on the morning of Thursday, February 22. We were told that the case has been referred to the District Attorney to determine which, if any, charges will be filed.

This issue does highlight the fact that we need to continue examination of how we, as a staff and community, work to prevent, respond and react to such incidents. We will be continuing all the enhanced security measures we have enacted since last week, including retaining our security person, Mr. Josiah, as he was introduced to your students this morning.

Thank you.
